DJK Tuckpointing & Masonry Repairs was created in 1975 by Donald J. Kreusch Jr. Don had been working for his father
Don Sr. (shown on the left in the picture above) since he was in his early teens and having turned 24, decided that he wanted
to try to run his own business, so with the help of his close boyhood friend Larry, went out and acquired, at an extremely low
price, a complete set of patent scaffolding and 4 wood extension ladders. Don ran a small advertisement in the local
newspaper offering tuckpointing services. The calls started coming in and Don was pleased to find out that his first summer in
business he was able to do more than just a few projects. He actually worked nonstop for the whole summer and into the late
fall through mid November. The future was bright for Don and his friend Larry worked for him that summer and stayed a few
more before leaving for another type of work.
During Don's first year he hired 2 more employees and maintained that crew for the next 3 years. In Don's 4th year he
expanded again doing more of the work with brick laying and stonework. Don's brother David joined him, and his uncle Harvey
and Eddie too. Harvey and Eddie did the brick and stonework teaching Don and David more techniques of the trade. At the
same time, Don, David and the other employees continued working on tuckpointing projects.
The brickwork included chimneys, fireplaces and fireboxes, parapet walls and stairs and entries. The stonework included
patios, pool decks, sidewalks, and planter boxes using stone such as crab orchard stone, flagstone and New York Blue Stone.
The jobs have kept coming in over the years and the types of work within the genre has expanded as well. Projects including
working on constructing room additions with outside brick walls, and stand alone 2 sided sign walls for commercial properties.
Basement wall refinishing using a cement finish over brick is another type of project that the company expanded into doing
which allowed for work throughout the winter months. There are many more over the last 40 years we have done but the list is
too long to mention here.
Being a 4th generation mason/brick/stone layer, Don's grandfather was also a mason, Don took to the work well and developed
an eye for quality. The family has always prided itself with exceptional quality of workmanship and creating a pleasant
customer relationship. In hiring DJK, a customer will experience a courteous and informative conversation with Don when he
personally comes out to look at the project prior to making a proposal. Don prides himself on being able to convey to the
customer, the specifics of the job, so the customer is able to understand the scope of the project and where the project falls in
With DJK, professionalism and reputation is of utmost importance and thus being so, Don always warranties his work to the
customer's satisfaction. If you find there is something amiss about any finished project done by DJK, just call Don and he will
come out in person to discuss your concerns with you.
